Big Dreams come true...Part 2

In the first part of achieving my dream, I spoke to you about all the obstacles and painstaking steps I had to take especially the one about immigration, which kept delaying the start up of my Real Estate business. I will now share with you the last 4 years of my life. My adventure started in November 2006 when I decided to follow my dream and tour the USA for 4 months. I had to sell my house, and my car. Next I bought another motorcycle, and a bigger trailer so that I could explore and race in the USA. The life of a traveler is very exciting and interesting, while at the same time relaxing, and insightful. It was there, while on my journey that I realized I had a mission in life, and that was to help others to attain their dreams and vanquish negative thoughts of depression and suicide.

In life, most of us a very spoiled and are not even aware of how much we have. During my trip, I had no running water, no electricity, no air-conditioning, a very small shower, and it was by no means luxurious, only the essentials. The first days at my apartment in California, my dream now realized, I really began to appreciate the small things of everyday life. What we take for granted such as running water, taking a shower, in “my” shower, and not in shower of a gym, campsite, truck stop or at friends, was a very comforting feeling. Finally, I was home. I had found a sense of belonging, stability and was now able to grow roots. How many times in our daily lives do we waste precious resources while millions of people on earth have no running water?

Another aspect which hit home was electricity. Can you imagine! I no longer had to worry about how long the solar panel in my RV would power up for, or try to figure out if I had enough propane to for the stove or whatever heat I needed. Now everything is so much easier and simpler – so much simpler! Hot water, a refrigerator that works all the time, a stove, the ability to recharge batteries, my computer, and a microwave! All these things make life so much more convenient and easier. We do not realize how much in our lives we take for granted, as we are spoiled.

The third thing, which really awoke my consciousness, was space. For 4 years, I lived half the year in a 23 foot long RV; the other half of the year, I lived in very small room in my office which I had converted in a loft. I did all this so that I could scrimp and save to reach California, which is considerably expensive. Even my brain felt cramped and suffocated. To be in my apartment and to have my own living space with decorations, real furniture, windows, lots of light had a huge impact on me mentally. I now felt free to breathe and grow fully. Also, the desire to have a nice, clean place without the clutter of boxes, files, and clothes strewn all over has made such a difference. I am proposing that you do the following exercise and that is to list all that you do and use in any given day and see what you are taking for granted. I am sure you will be surprised! If ever, you find your room, office or living room to be a mess, just clean it up and you will see what a sense of serenity and peacefulness comes over you.

Finally, the last thing I noticed, when I moved into my new home was the scenery, and comfortableness the little things brought. There was beautiful nature in all my new surroundings, access to the pool and the sauna…. Wow!!! I really missed my spa which I had prior to 2006. The ability to lie a few hours at the pool whenever I chose, relax in the sun, listen to the birds chirp, and feel the soothing caress of a gentle breeze, brought such a sensation of wellbeing. It gives me energy and calms me. A hot spa at night for 20 or 30 minutes brings a sense of exhilaration to my skin and lets me forget the torments of the day, as well as the challenges of the past and of those to come in the future. It’s a very reenergizing feeling, alleviating all stress and worry from the mind. Now that I’m almost all settled (we are still missing our living room set) I hope that I will have more time to relax, fully absorbing the benefits from my new place in California provides and come to appreciate even more my dream now realized.
